Maybe you’ve been in a boat before or maybe you’re wanting to brush up on your skills. If so, then try an introductory course.

The Introduction to Kayak course is an ACA program that helps you achieve the goals of paddling safely and efficiently on flatwater (or easy, open water) and performing self rescues.

The Introduction to Kayak course covers the following topics:

  • logistics
  • paddling environment
  • terminology
  • equipment
  • safety
  • strokes and maneuvers
  • rolling
         

The course is taught in recreational, touring, or sit-on-top kayaks. The techniques covered can be applied to any type of kayak (including whitewater kayaks).

Length 6-8 hours
Class size 5 students (maximum)
Location flatwater lake in Austin
Cost $100 (includes boat and equipment)
